Of the 9 Marker-Lathes I displayed at the PysankyUSA 2013 Retreat, my rankings are as follows:
#1 the (5) Blue Eggers Helper #2 (6) English Marker
I started egging with the Blue Egger’s Helper, which may be why I prefer it-it is light weight, and lets you mark the ends for proper placement to drill for emptying and will fit all sizes of eggs. The English Marker is versatile, but has a lot of parts which might get lost or break. However its twist dial is great (not as accurate as Alcraft’s), but it is fun and also light weight. Good luck, have fun testing them.
With practice and the proper instruction, like taking Gene’s incredible PUSA Retreat Class, all will work.
I also own the two additional markers #’s 10 & 11. 10 is an older and unavailable version; however I include it here for those who may
have it and not the instructions. #11 is an odd contraption. I find it difficult to operate, but I know one person who swears by it. It too is unavailable, but I have included them for anyone who may need the printed instructions. #12 is just for fun
